It shouldn’t come as a surprise that most vapers attempt to inhale an E-Cigarette like a traditional cigarette. After all, many starter E-Cigs are specifically designed to look and feel like tobacco cigarettes. Yet, the technique for inhaling E-Cigs is completely different.
People smoking traditional cigarettes are accustomed to taking short, frequent drags when inhaling. E-Cigarettes don’t work this way. When vaping, users are supposed to take long, slow drags, instead. Trying to smoke an E-Cig like a traditional cigarette could lead to leaky eLiquid.
Many traditional smokers are known to be chain smokers, smoking cigarette after cigarette, without hesitation. E-Cigarette smokers can’t do that. Because vapers are smoking from an electronic device, overuse will lead to the unit overheating. Spread out your vaping sessions by at least 5-10 minutes.
Another downfall of vaping too frequently is that users can develop what is called ‘Vaper’s Tongue.’ This occurs when users are inhaling flavored vapor too frequently and your taste buds become desensitized. It’s not permanent, more like flavor fatigue. Space out your vape sessions to avoid this.
In order to get the atomizer ready for vaping, many users prefer to take what is called a primer puff, by quickly inhaling on the device to heat up the coil, without actually taking in vapor. This technique isn’t 100% necessary, but does help extend the life of your atomizer.
When inhaling an E-Cigarette, take a long and steady draw, filling your mouth with vapor. There is no need to inhale directly into your lungs, as the flavor and nicotine sensation is felt almost immediately upon entering your mouth.
Once the vapor is in your mouth, keep it there for a few seconds. Enjoy the flavor, while the nicotine is absorbed through the mucus membranes in your mouth, followed by the lungs and nose. Then, exhale the vapor cloud.
Traditional smokers typically experience a nicotine buzz, after around 8 seconds. With E-Cigarettes, that buzz occurs after around 30 seconds. That delay can take some getting used to for traditional smokers, but most get past that in no time.
